# Unlock Document

The Unlock Document option allows you to make changes to the document even after the document status is marked as Ready for Signing.

Normally, once negotiations are complete and the contract is marked as Ready for Signing, the document is locked, and no further editing is allowed.

However, there might be instances where last-minute changes are necessary before the contract goes for signing. In such cases, you can unlock the document and make the required changes.

> The user must have permission to Unlock the document and the Document Status should be Ready for Signing.

1. In the contract, click on the three dots (**…**).  
2. Select the **Unlock Document** option.  
3. Click **Confirm**.

Once unlocked, collaborators with edit access can make changes to the document.

The document status will change to Negotiation Internal.

A task will be created for the Legal Negotiator to Review the document. After reviewing and approving the changes, the legal Negotiator can mark the document as Ready for Signing again.
