Deleting a document revokes all outstanding signer and reviewer invitations. > **Warning** > > Once you delete a document from your account, it cannot be retrieved. ## How to Delete a Document 1. In the Documents section, [search for the document](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/manage-documents/find-documents#search-documents) you want to delete. 2. Click on the **Three Dots (⋮)** and select **Delete**. 3. Confirm your action by clicking on **Delete**. > **Tip** > > You can download audit trails for completed documents that have been deleted from the activity logs. ## What happens when you delete ### Documents you sent Deleting a document has varying impacts depending on its status. The effects of deletion are as follows: #### Sent Documents (Under-Progress) As the sender, deleting a sent document that is under-progress revokes any outstanding signing and reviewer invites. - Invitees who haven’t signed yet but have an active invitation will be notified that the invitation was revoked. - Invitees who have already signed the document will be unable to access it and will receive a notification that the invitation was deleted. - Future invitees, who are later in the signing order, will not receive any notifications regarding the invitation. #### Completed Documents If you delete a completed document where all invitees have signed the document, the document and invitee are unaffected. Invitees can still view and download the document. ## When Are Invitees Notified? When a completely unsigned document is **deleted** Leegality notifies the invitees about the cancellation, depending on the notification settings. **When notifications are _enabled_ at the invitee level:** * The invitee will receive a notification stating: > *“The sender has revoked the invitation sent to you to eSign the document.”* * This applies **even if** the sender deletes the document **after** it has expired. **When notifications are _disabled_:** * The invitee **will not receive** any communication about the revocation of the document. > **Tip** > > Learn [**how to configure notification for each invitee**](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/leegality-features/invitee-level/notifications/email-notifications) during the sending journey.
