All font options are available on the toolbar. > **Info** > > For all formatting options, ensure to select the text first. If no text is selected, the formatting will apply to text you type from that point forward. ## Apply text styles Apply formatting styles to emphasise or modify text appearance: ### Bold Make text bold for emphasis: 1. Select the text you want to make bold. 2. Click the **Bold** button (B) on the toolbar. **Keyboard shortcut:** Press **Ctrl+B** (Windows) or **Cmd+B** (Mac). ### Italics Make text italic for emphasis or titles: 1. Select the text you want to italicise. 2. Click the **Italics** button (I) on the toolbar. **Keyboard shortcut:** Press **Ctrl+I** (Windows) or **Cmd+I** (Mac). ### Underline Add an underline to text: 1. Select the text you want to underline. 2. Click the **Underline** button (U) on the toolbar. **Keyboard shortcut:** Press **Ctrl+U** (Windows) or **Cmd+U** (Mac). ### Strikethrough Draw a line through text to indicate its invalidity(e.g., ~~Agreement~~ ): 1. Select the text. 2. Click the **Strikethrough** button on the toolbar. ### Subscript Format text below the baseline (e.g., H₂O): 1. Select the text you want as subscript. 2. Click the **Subscript** button on the toolbar. ### Superscript Format text above the baseline (e.g., x²): 1. Select the text you want as superscript. 2. Click the **Superscript** button on the toolbar. ## Remove format Remove all font-based formatting from text: 1. Select the formatted text. 2. Click the **Remove Format** button on the toolbar. All formatting (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, subscript, superscript, font type, font size, text color, and background color) will be removed. The text will return to default formatting. ## Change font type Change the font family: 1. Select the text you want to change. 2. Click the **Font Type** dropdown on the toolbar. 3. Choose a font from the list. **Common fonts:** Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, Verdana, Georgia, Courier New ## Change font size Change the text size: 1. Select the text you want to resize. 2. Click the **Font Size** dropdown on the toolbar. 3. Choose a size from the list. ## Change text color Change the color of text: 1. Select the text you want to color. 2. Click the **Text Color** button on the toolbar. 3. Choose a color from the color sheet. > **Tip** > > Use colors that provide good contrast with your background. Black or dark gray on white is standard for body text. ## Change background color Apply a background color to text: 1. Select the text. 2. Click the **Background Color** button on the toolbar. 3. Choose a color from the color sheet. The selected text will have a colored background (like a highlighter effect). > **Info** > > Background color is useful for highlighting important information or creating visual emphasis without changing the text color itself. ## Copy formatting Copy the visual styling from one section and apply it to another: 1. Select the text that has the formatting you want to copy. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Copy Formatting** button (paintbrush icon). 3. Select the text where you want to apply the copied formatting. ### What copy formatting copies Copy formatting memorizes and applies: - **Font style:** Bold, italics, typeface, and font size - **Colors:** Text color and background color - **Alignment:** Left, center, right, or justified settings - **Table styles:** Cell borders and padding (if used within tables) ### Use copy formatting multiple times **Single application:** Click the **Copy Formatting** button once to apply formatting to one section. **Multiple applications:** Double-click the **Copy Formatting** button to lock it, then apply formatting to multiple sections. Click the button again to deactivate. > **Tip** > > Use copy formatting to ensure consistency across your document. You can style one header or field exactly how you want it, then copy that formatting to all similar elements. ## Align text Control how text aligns horizontally within your document: ### Align left Align text to the left margin: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Align Left** button. ### Align center Center text horizontally: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Align Center** button. ### Align right Align text to the right margin: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Align Right** button. ### Justify Align text to both left and right margins: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Justify** button. The text will stretch to align with both margins, creating even edges on both sides. > **Info** > > Alignment applies to entire paragraphs. If your cursor is in a paragraph, you don't need to select the whole paragraph—just click the alignment button. ## Adjust indent Control the indentation of text or paragraphs: ### Increase indent Move text further from the left margin: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click **Increase Indent**. You can click multiple times to increase indentation further. ### Decrease indent Move text closer to the left margin: 1. Select the text or paragraph. 2. On the toolbar, click **Decrease Indent**. You can click multiple times to decrease indentation further. > **Tip** > > Indent is useful for creating visual hierarchy, nested lists, or block quotations. Use it to make subsections stand out from main content. ## Change line height Control the spacing between lines of text: 1. Select the text where you want to adjust line height. 2. On the toolbar, click the **Line Height** dropdown. 3. Select a value from 1 to 2. **Line height values:** - **1.0:** Single spacing (minimal space between lines) - **1.5:** One and a half spacing (standard for readability) - **2.0:** Double spacing (maximum space between lines) > **Info** > > Line height controls the vertical distance between two subsequent lines. Higher values create more breathing room, while lower values make text more compact.
