It enables multi-document packs, selective document assignment, and enhanced configuration options. ## What is v4? v4 is a workflow created by Leegality for your specific use cases. As a workflow runner, you use these pre-configured workflows to send documents for eSignature. Leegality creates v4 workflows based on your requirements. Once created, you can run these workflows repeatedly to send documents to invitees. ## Key capabilities ### Send multiple documents as a pack Create packs containing multiple primary documents. Each primary document can contain one or more sub-documents. Assign specific primary documents to individual invitees based on the invitee's roles. **Example:** Send a loan agreement, property documents, and insurance policy together. Assign all documents to the borrower, only loan agreement to the guarantor, and only property documents to the bank officer. ### Multi-document signing in one journey Invitees sign multiple primary documents in a single unified session. They receive one notification, access one signing link, and complete all assigned documents in one flow. ### Flexible stamping options Configure stamps at the primary document level with two options: - **Stamps for merged document:** One stamp at the beginning of all sub-documents - **Separate stamps for sub-documents:** Dedicated stamps before each sub-document Different primary documents can have different stamping configurations. ### Selective document assignment Assign specific primary documents to each invitee. Each person sees and signs only the documents relevant to them, maintaining privacy and reducing confusion. ### Document pack processing Configure pack-level settings including pack name, internal reference number, folder selection, auto-deletion timeframe, and SFTP transfer for signed documents. ### Enhanced invitee configuration Set signing order, configure eSign types, and customize security settings, notifications, and other invitee-level options for each invitee. ## Document structure v4 uses a three-level hierarchy: - **Sub-documents:** Individual PDF files you upload — the building blocks of primary documents. - **Primary documents:** One or more sub-documents combined. Each is signed independently, has its own audit trail, and can be assigned selectively to invitees. - **Document pack:** The collection of all primary documents, sent together in a single, unified journey. For a detailed explanation, see [Packs and documents](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/understanding-v4/packs-and-documents). ## Roles and responsibilities | Role | Responsibilities | |------|------------------| | **Workflow creator** | Creates v4 workflows based on your requirements. Configures workflow structure and boundaries. | | **Workflow runner** (Document Sender) | Runs workflows to send documents. Adds sub-documents, configures invitees, assigns documents, sets signature coordinates, and sends packs. | | **Invitees** | Receive and complete assigned documents in a unified signing journey. | ## v4 vs current workflows Both v4 and current workflows coexist. v4 will gradually replace the current system over the next few years. **Use v4 when you need:** - Multiple documents sent together with selective assignment of documents to invitees - Different stamping options (stamp for the merged document vs separate stamps per sub-document) - Ability to add constraints or flexibility to all fields to tailor the workflow runner's flow - Save eSign Coordinates per sub-documents so that sub-documents exclusion at runtime does not change eSign coordinate placement of subsequent sub-documents - Unified signing experience for multiple documents **Use current workflows when:** - Your existing workflows meet your needs - You have simple document sending requirements > **Info — Note** > > You cannot convert existing workflows to v4 or use the same API integration. ## Getting started with v4 To use v4 workflows: 1. Identify use cases requiring v4 capabilities 2. Review and test the configured workflow 3. Run the workflow to send documents > **Info — Note** > > Contact your account manager in case you have a complex workflow requirement. ## Next steps - [Learn how to run v4 workflows](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/run-a-pack) - [Understand pack and document structure](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/understanding-v4/packs-and-documents)
