This guide explains distributed stamping. ## What is distributed stamping? Distributed stamping lets you attach a stamp before each sub-document within a primary document, instead of placing one stamp at the beginning for all sub-documents combined. **Example:** Primary Document A has 3 sub-documents. With distributed stamping, you attach a stamp at the beginning of each sub-document, distributing stamps throughout the primary document such that the serial number and ID of the stamp will only be affixed on its corresponding sub-document, thus mapping the stamp with the sub-document. If you have multiple primary documents in a pack, you can independently configure distributed stamping for each primary document. ## Stamping options ### Stamps for merged document Places all stamps at the beginning, followed by all combined sub-documents in a primary document. ### Separate stamps for sub-documents (Distributed stamping) Places a dedicated stamp before each sub-document within a primary document. This is distributed stamping. ## Configuring stamping When creating primary documents in the Create step: 1. Enable **Attach Stamping** for the primary document 2. Choose stamping option: - **Stamps for merged document:** One stamp for all sub-documents combined - **Separate stamps for sub-documents:** Distributed stamping - one stamp before each sub-document 3. Each primary document can have a different stamping configuration > **Info — Flexibility per run** > > You can enable or disable stamping each time you run the workflow, if allowed by the workflow creator. This allows you to handle situations where stamps are sometimes required and sometimes not. ## Next steps - [Understand pack structure](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/understanding-v4/packs-and-documents) - [Learn about document assignment](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/understanding-v4/document-assignment) - [Learn how to configure stamping](https://knowledge.leegality.com/document-execution/workflows/v4/run-workflow/run-a-pack#step-1-create)
